Election Information

If you would like a voter registration application mailed to you, you can request it by calling the Town Office at 549-5471

If you would like to register to vote in person you may do so by coming to the Town Office, located at 58 Washington Road during our business hours.

The State of Maine allows residents to register to vote any time leading up to and including the day of the election.  Proof of residency and proof of identity is required, such as a driver’s license indicating a physical street address in Jefferson (not a post office box mailing address).

If you are currently registered and wish to change any information, such as your political party affiliation, your married name or residence address (which is pertinent to your voting record), please complete a new voter registration card and mail to the  Town Clerk’s Office, 58 Washington Road, Jefferson, Maine, 04843 or by coming to the Office, or by calling the Town Clerk’s Office at 549-7401 to request a voter registration card be mailed to you.

Absentee Ballots and Absentee Voting are available until Thursday, June 4, 2026. Absentee Ballots are available by one of the following:

1. Stop by the Town Office and fill out an application to complete ballot at home or other location.

2. Stop by the office and vote in person.

3. Call the office and request a ballot be sent by mail.

4. Online at www.maine.gov/cgi-bin/online/AbsenteeBallot/index.pl

Beginning February 1, 2024, voters who will be at least 65 years of age by the next election or who self-identify as having a disability may apply for ongoing absentee voter status. A voter who qualifies will automatically receive an absentee ballot for each statewide election, municipal election, and any other election for which the voter is eligible to vote and need not submit a request for each election. Voters must return completed form to their municipal clerk.
